NOTE: There is a rumor floating around about a James Braswell & Harriet Boon marriage. I can find nothing to support this claim, and have deduced that someone became confused while reading the Exum Braswell & Harriet Boon marriage bond.
Additionally, notice that James has a brother named Dempsey. They can be found with their siblings and father here:
Braswells of Nash Co, NC 1777-1859
Their father William can be found here:
Will of Jacob Braswell 1815
Jacob's father is here:
Will of William Braswell II 1785
William Braswell II is the son of William the 1st proved by the William & Margaret Bracewell deed to Thomas Daughtrey
William Bracewell & wife Margarett to Thomas DAUGHTRY of Nansimond Co., Va. Aug. 13, 1728. 8 pds. for 200 a. On Yohohoh Swamp at Patterson Branch. "William Bracewell son and heir of William Bracewell Dec'd...8 pds. paid to my father...bond dated Feb. 10, 1718..." Wit: John Dickinson, Peter Hase, James Holland. August Court 1728. Edw. Mashborne. (Bertie Co., NC Deed Book C, page 5)
William Bracewell dec'd above is the son of Richard & Sarah of Isle of Wight Co., Va, and died before either of their wills and was not mentioned.
It is proved by the records that the OTHER William Braswell, son of Susannah Burgess Braswell & Richard Towle, is named in both of their wills & probated Susannah's will as "the executor within named" in 1732 and sold the 40 acres she bequeathed to him in that will as William Braswell "of Isle of Wight County" in 1764.
The William Bracewell who died in North Carolina in 1720/21 and was associated with all the children of Richard & Sarah there was in fact their BROTHER & SON.
