January 3, 1785. "James Parham of Chatham County and State of North Carolina of the one part and Drury Parham of the County and State aforesaid of the other part." -- "for and in consideration of the sum of one hundred & twenty pounds Lawfull money"----"one certain tract or parcel of land lying and being in Chatham County on the south side of Cape Fear River beginning at a white oak at Thomas Partridge's corner on the said river runing up said river and out to said James Parham's back line for the compliment of one hundred and twenty five acres of land"----- (signed) James Parham.
