1814 - Archibald G. Braswell & Jesse Braswell, Nash Co., NC

This Indenture Made this 11th day of February one thousand Eight Hundred & Fourteen Between Archd G Braswell of the County of Nash and State of North carolina of the one part and Jesse Braswell of the County and State aforesaid of the other Witnesseth that the said Archd G. Braswell for and In consideration of the sum of Two Hundred And Ten dollars in hand paid by the said Jesse Braswell the receipt Whereof the said Archd Doth hereby acknowledge and thence With himself fully Satisfyd and hath given and granted Bargained Sold and Delivered unto the said Jesse Braswell his heirs and Assigns a Certain Tract or parcel of Land lying in the County aforesaid Containing One Hundred and Sixty eight Acres be the same more or less and Bounded as follows (Viz) Begining on the south Side of the Great Branch at a White Oak Jacob Braswells Corner on said Branch and runing South 24 West 87 pole to a small White Oak then south 32 pole to a Corner White Oak thence West 60 Poles to a Red oak thence South 40 poles to a black gum thence South 73 1/2 East 237 poles to a red Oak in Ellens line thence North 53 poles To Demsey Braswells Corner a post Oak thence Continuing North 48 pole to the aforesaid Great Branch thence up the Various Courses thereof to the begining Containing One Hundred & Sixty eight Acres be the same More or less with all and singular the appertenances Thereunto belonging To have and to hold the said Tract of Land and Premises Unto the said Jesse Braswell his heirs and Assigns for Ever And the said Archd G. Braswell for himself his heirs Extrs & Admrs The aforesaid Tract of Land and premises Unto the said Jesse Braswell his heirs and Assigns shall and Will Warrant and for ever defend By these presence In Witness whereof the said Archd G Braswell hath hereunto set his hand and affixed his seal} Archd G. This Indenture made this day of September 1818 Between Elias Williams of the County of Franklin and state of North Carolina of the One part and Jesse Braswell Jur of the County of Nash and State ---- of the part Witnesseth that for and In consideration of the sum of Three Hundred & Thirty three Dollars to me in hand paid by the said Jesse Braswell the receipt whereof I do acknowledge and being Fully Satisfyd I have for consideration of the above Sum Granted Bargained and Sold unto the said Braswell Two Tracts of Land it Being the Land that fell to me by the Death of my Farther and my Part of my Mothers Dower the said Land Lying and being in the County of Nash and State aforesaid lying on the North side of Swift Creek Begining at Wm Manns Corner on Said Creek and runing his Line of Marked Trees No 150 poles to a stake thence No 78 po to the Center of a Red Oak & Hicory the Dower Corner thence So 34 po---- 36 poles To a Red oak thence Es 92 po to a Red Oak in Lew Arringtons Line thence his line South 50 pos to his Corner thence Es his other Line 80 po to the aforesd Swift Creek then down the Various Courses of sd Creek to the first station containing by Estimation seventy five Acres be the same more or less One other Tract that is my Part of the Dower Begining on the said Swift Creek Mathew Williams Corner Maple thence So 16---out to a white oak said Williams Corner thence along a Back line to an oak Zilpah Williams Corner thence along said Zilpahs line So 12 Es to a Hicory Thence to a Sowerwood thence To a Hicory on said Creek thence Down said Creek to the first Station Containing by Estimation Forty Acres be the same more or Less To have and to hold the above Land and premises I Elias Williams for myself my Heirs and Assigns Do Warrant and forever Defend the right And Title of the two above Mentioned Tracts of Land with With all the wood Minerals -- Unto the said Jesse Braswell His heirs and Assigns forever agst the Claims of all Manner of Persons Whatsoever In Testamony hereof I have hereunto Set my Hand & Affixed my seal the Day and Date Above Written Signed Sealed In the province of Nash County Elias his X mark Williams

This Indenture made this 26th January 1818 Between James Williams of the County of Southampton State of Virginia of the one part and Jesse Braswell Jur of the County of Nash and State of Northcarolina of the Other part Witnesseth that for and Inconsideration of the sum of Twenty Eight Dollars 87 1/2 Cents the receipt hereof I do hereby Acknowledge myself fully satisfyd And paid by the said Jesse Braswell for a Certain Tract or parcell of Land Lying and being in the County of Nash and State of N.Carolina and on the North Side of Red Bud Creek Lined & Bounded as follows (To wi-- Beginning at a White Oak thence No 70 East along said Davises Line to Mary Williamses Corner red Oak thence -30West along said Williamses Line to a white Oak thence to the Beginning Containing by Estimation Fifty two and 1/4 (?) 1834 - Nathan Vick, Nash Co., NC



In the name of God amen I Nathan Vick, Sr. of the county of Nash and State of No Carolina being old and infirm tho of sound mind and deposing memory do this 28th day of October in the year of our Lord One thousand eight hundred and thirty four make publish and declare this to be my last will and testament in manner and form following to wit--- Item - my will and desire is first that all my just debts and burial expenses be paid by my executors or executrix hereafter mentioned Item - I lend to my beloved wife Mary Vick, during her natural life, all of my household and kitchen furniture and all of my stock of horses, cattle, hogges, sheep, etc. And at her death, I give and bequeath all the above named property leant to my wife to Nathan Vick, Jr. to him and his heirs forever. Item - I give and bequeath to my son Nathan Vick, Jr. one still and all of my cider cast, apple mill, etc. never the less my will and desire is that my son
Nathan Vick, Jr. shall have the use of the said still to still his own liquor. To him and his heirs
forever. Item - I give and bequeath to my son Nathan Vick, Jr. fifty cent to him and his heirs
forever. Item - I give and bequeath to my daughter, Cloe Watkins, fifty cent to her and her heirs forever. Item - I give and bequeath to my son William Vick, fifty cent to him and his heirs forever. Item - I give and bequeath to my daughter Christian Odom, fifty cent to her and her heirs forever. Item - I give and bequeath to my daughter, Polley Braswell, fifty cents to her and her heirs forever. Item - I give and bequeath to my daughter Salley Braswell, fifty cents to her and her heirs forever. Item - my will and desire is that all of the balance of my estate be sold for the benefit of my son Nathan Vick, Jr. for him and his heirs forever. I do hereby constitute and appoint my nephew, Chandler M. Vick, my hole and sole executor to this my last will and testament. In testimony whereof I have hear unto set my hand and seal this day and year within and above mentioned.

1824 - James & Crissy Braswell, Nash Co., NC

This Indenture made the first day of April in the year of our Lord Eighteen Hundred and Twenty four between the heirs of Henry Griffin Junr. Dec'd (To wit) James Braswell and Crissy Braswell his wife Jetty Griffin Elizabeth Griffin Simeon Griffin and Willis Griffin all of the County of Edgecombe and State of North Carolina of the one part and Joel Wells of the County of Nash & State aforesaid of the other part Witnesseth That the said Heirs of Henry Griffin Junr decd as above named have for and in consideration of the sum of Twelve hundred Dollars to them in hand paid by the said Joel Wells --- whereof they doth hereby acknowledge and themselves satisfied contented and paid have granted bargained sold Conveyed and confirmed and by these presents do grant bargain sell convey and confirm unto him the sd Joel Wells his Heirs & assigns forever two tracts of land lying on the North side of Tar River and also on the North side of Kirbys Creek and partly in the County of Nash and part in the county of Edgecomb and bounded as follows (to wit) Begining at a corner red oak on the old road leading from Nash Court House to L-uts Bridge then down said Road to a pine on said road on Elbow then a line of Marked trees to a pine on the road leading to the great falls of Tar River then along said road to the place the presant road leaves (?) the former road to Kerbys Creek to a corner gum then up the various courses of said Creek to another corner gum thence a straight line of Marked trees to the first station on the road a red oak which is the boundar----of the first tract containing by Estimation one hundred and fifteen acres be the same more or less also one other tract lying adjoining of the above bounded tract and is bounded as follows (To Wit) Begining at a hickory on the Public road and runing -----72 -- 59 poles to a white oak thence No --West 60 poles Thence No 4 d West 48 poles to -- water oak in little Compass Creek thence up the various Courses of Said Creek to a gum Masons Corner thence with Masons Line south 87 -- West to a post oak a corner thence South to a white oak in the aforesaid road a corner thence down the various Courses od said road to a corner pine thence sd --- east a line of marked trees 134 pole to a water oak Thence No 22 -- East 74 pole to the first Station Containing by estimation one hundred and a fourth acres be the same more or less to have and to hold the aforesaid granted land and premises unto him the said Joel Wells his heirs and assigns And the said Heirs of Henry Griffin Junr. decd (To Wit) James Braswell and Crissy his wife Jetty Griffin Elizabeth Griffin Simon Griffin and Willis Griffin doth for themselves their heirs and assigns doth c------and promise and agree to and with him the said Joel Wells that they the said heirs of Henry Griffin Junr decd as above named will warrant and forever defend against any and every Person or persons whatsoever claiming by or under them the said heirs In Witness Whereof the said Heirs ha-- respectively hereunto set their hands and seals the day and date first above written

This Indenture made the 12th of February one thousand Eight hundred and Twenty three between Dempsey Braswell and his wife Mary of the County of Nash and State of North Carolina of the one part and William Gant of the County of Franklin and State afore sd of the other part witnesseth that the said Dempsey Braswell and Mary his wife for and in Consideration of the Sum of one hundred and S--teen Dollars to us in hand paid by the said William Gant before the sealing and Delivering of these presents the Receipt where of the said Dempsey Braswell and Mary his wife doth hereby Acknowledge and In Consequence thereof hath given granted bargained Sold and delivered unto the said William Gant his heirs and assigns a Certain Tract or parcel of Land lyin in the County of Nash and State aforesaid on the north side of Redbud Creek Containing 58 acres more or less and bounded as follows (to wit) Begining at an Elum in said gants line thence No 3- west 274 poles to a pine Davis Corner thence down to Davises line to a red Oak Braswell Corner in sd line thence south along to Braswell line to a Corner white Oak in the dower line then up sd line to the begining it being a part of the Dower No 8 Drawn by the sd Mary Braswell wife of the sd Dempsey Braswell with the appertanances Thereunto belonging and Every part and parcel thereof to have and to hold the aforesd Bargind Land and premises unto the said William Gant his heirs Executors Administrators and assigns and the sd Dempsey Braswell and his wife Mary ---themselves and their heirs Exrs and Admrs doth hereby agree to and with the said William Gant his heirs and assigns to warrant and forever defend the title and property of the above mentioned Land and premises against the Lawful claim or Claims of all persons whatsoever unto the said William Gant his heirs and assigns In witness whereof the said Dempsey Braswell and his wife Mary hath hereunto set and affixt their hands and seals the day & year above written

This Indenture made this 14th Day of November in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and ninety six Between James Braswell & Francis his wife of the County of Edgecombe of the one part and Nathan Whitehead of the County of Nash and State of North Carolina of the other Witnesseth that the said James Braswell & Frances his wife for and in consideration of the sum of Twenty five pounds Currency in hand paid by the said Nathan Whitehead before the ensealing & Delivery of these presents the receipt whereof they do hereby Acknowledge and hath given granted Bargained sold and Delivered over unto the said Nathan Whitehead his heirs & assigns a certain Tract or parcel of Land lying & being in the said County of Nash Containing sixty Three Acres more or less & bounded as follows (to wit) Begining at a Hickory in the said Whiteheads own line thence North along his line to a red oak in Pitts line thence by his line East 160 poles to a black Oak thence Down the stoney branch and the various courses thereof to a black oak thence by a line of marked trees to the Begining with the appurtenances thereunto belonging and every part and parcel thereof - To have and to hold to the said Nathan Whitehead his heirs and assigns and the said James Braswell & Frances his wife doth hereby agree to warrant and Defend the Title and property of the above granted Land & premises unto the said Nathan Whitehead his heirs & assigns forever.
