To All Christian People to whom these presents shall come I Hermun Strickland of the province of North Carolina Halifax County send Greeting Know Ye that I Harmund Strickland for and in consideration of the love good will & affection which I have and do bear towards my loving son Harmon Strickland of the County and province afsd have given and granted and by these presents do fully freely clearly and absolutely give and grant to the said Harmond Strickland his heirs and assigns all that one certain peace & parcel of land situate lying in the East side of Deep Creek Beginning at James Hoguns corner ---- on the run of the said Creek thence along said Hoguns line to a corner pine in said line thence North 140 po. to a pine in the Indian Branch thence down the said Branch to the run of the Creek to a corner ---- then down the said Creek to the first Station containing by estimation two hundred acres more or less the said land was granted by a deed from Frances Corbin Esqr. to Hermon Strickland Senr Bearing date September 17th 1744 together with all the right title interest claim and --- and whatsoever which I now have in which any or either of my heirs Exrs administrators or assigns may thereafter have of to or in the said granted premises or any part thereof To have and to hold the said land unto him the said Harmon Strickland his heirs and assigns for ever absolutely without any manner of condition as I the said Hermun Strickland have fully freely and absolutely and of my own accord set and put in further Testimony In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 20th day of October, 1774.

Harmon Strickland to Marmaduke Strickland
To all Christian people to whom this may concern Know ye that I Harmon Strickland for and in consideration of the love and good will which I have towards my loving son Marmaduke Strickland of Halifax County Have given and granted and by these presents do fully and absolutely give and grant to the said Marmaduke Strickland his heirs Executors & c. the land and plantation where on he now lives Beginning in the back line at the head of a branch and running down the branch to Deep Creek and contains One hundred and twenty five acres be the same more or less To Have and to hold the said Tract of Land with all its priviledges and benefits there unto belonging or in any ways appertaining to the said Marmaduke Strickland his heirs and assigns forever hence forth as his proper Estate and I the said Harmon Strickland before the ensealing and delivery of these presents am the true oner of the above Land and further I do forever warrant and defend the said Land free and clear from all encumbrances of any person or persons whatsoever laying any Right Title or claim or ---- and ---- In witness whereof I have here unto Set my hand and seal this 3rd day of August in the year 1779~Hermon Strickland {seal} Signed Sealed & delivered in the presence of us~ Jas.
