William WILLIAMS probably born circa 1750, probably Edgecombe Co., North Carolina; died 1822 Smith Co., Tennessee; married probably by 1768, probably Edgecombe Co., North Carolina to Lucreasy BRASWELL probably born by 1755 probably Edgecombe Co., North Carolina; died circa 1826 Smith Co., Tennessee. She was the daughter of William and Martha BRASWELL of Edgecombe Co., North Carolina.

Elizabeth WILLIAMS born circa 1768 probably Edgecombe Co., North Carolina; died circa 1849 DeKalb Co., Tennessee; married circa 1790 probably Nash Co., Tennessee to Matthew GRIFFIN.

Chloe WILLIAMS born circa 1770 probably Edgecombe Co., North Carolina; died 1854 Hancock Co., Illinois; married Matthew MELTON.

Milly WILLIAMS born circa 1780 probably Nash Co., North Carolina; died circa 1815 Smith Co., Tennessee; married George ROBINSON.

Priscilla WILLIAMS born circa 1781 probably Nash Co., North Carolina; died between 1853-1860; married Sampson BRASWELL.

William WILLIAMS born circa 1784 probably Nash Co., Tennessee; died June 1850 DeKalb Co., Tennessee; married in Smith Co., Tennessee to Rachel.

Mary WILLIAMS born circa 1785 probably Nash Co., North Carolina; died 7 Dec. 1847 DeKalb Co., Tennessee. Never married.

Samuel WILLIAMS circa 1787 probably Nash Co., North Carolina; died circa Sep. 1848 DeKalb Co., Tennessee; married before 1809 to Sarah BRASWELL [Note that Sarah and Sampson are siblings.]

Gilbert WILLIAMS born circa 1789 probably Nash Co., North Carolina; died between 1840-1850; married to Mary.

Lucretia WILLIAMS born circa 1792 probably Nash Co., North Carolina; died after 1860; married Henry HART.

Nancy WILLIAMS born circa 1795 probably Nash Co., North Carolina; died after Jan. 1853 Madison Co., Missouri; married Aaron BRASWELL.

Notes: William WILLIAMS’ will was witnessed by Thomas BECKWITH. He was on the tax list in Nash Co., North Carolina in 1782 and on the 1790 census. A deed dated 13 March 1800 in Nash Co., North Carolina mentions land he received from Mary WILLIAMS (550 acres) which he sold for 1000 silver dollars. Presumably, he left for Tennessee after selling his inherited land. He purchased 340 acres in Smith Co., Tennessee on 12 Dec. 1804. One oral tradition states that the WILLIAMS’ family spent some time in Virginia before settling in Tennessee but that hasn’t been confirmed. Lucreasy BRASWELL WILLIAMS was mentioned in the will of her father, William BRASWELL, dated 30 Nov. 1778 in Nash Co., North Carolina.
