This Indenture made this Nineteenth day of January in the year of Our Lord One Thousand Eight hundred & twenty four between Jesse Braswell Sr. of the County of Nash & State of North Carolina and of the the one part and Wm Willis Boddie of the of the County and State aforsaid of the other part witnesseth that for and in consideration of the Sum of four Hundred & Nine Dollars & Eighteen Cents to him in hand paid by the _ William Willis Boddie the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged have granted bargained Sold and confirmed and by these presents doth grant bargain Sell and confirm unto the said Wm Willis Boddie his heirs and assigns for ever a Certain massuage or three tracts of Land lying on the great branch and joining the Lands of Jacob Braswell William Braswell Archeloes Tisdale and Others Containing by Estimation nine hundred Acres be the same more or less to have and to hold all and Singular the above bargained and Sold premises to the Said W Willis Boddie his heirs and assigns forever and the said Jesse Braswell for himself his heirs - doth hereby covenant and agree unto the said Wm Willis Boddie his heirs & assigns the above mentioned Land to warrant and forever defend against the claim or demands of all and every person or persons whatsoever upon Trust also the following property (to wit) five negro Slaves named as follows Bob. Charles. Venus George & Peggy with all the Stock of Cattle Horses hogs & sheep Consisting of Six head of Horses Eight head of Cattle forty head of hogs and seven head of sheep also Seven Beds & furniture and the balance of the House hold furniture one ---- & cider casks all the fodder & forty barrels of Corn and all the pork and One cart & wheels Nevertheless that the said W Willis Boddie his heirs Executors administrators or assigns Shall after the first day of July next or as soon thereafter as the said Wm Willis Boddie his heirs Exrs adm. or assigns shall think proper or the said Jesse Braswell his heirs Executors and administrators shall request in writing serveds on the said William Willis Boddie his heirs Executors administrators or assigns sell the aforesaid bargained and sold property at publick sale after giving legal notice by advertising the same in the county of Nash for the best prices that can be had in cash and out of the money arising from such sale shall pay to George Boddie his heirs the above mentioned sum of Four hundred & nine Dollars & Eighteen Cents with all charges which may accrue and the surplus money arising from such sale if any should remain after the payment of the said sum of Four Hundred and Nine Dollars and Eighteeen Cents with Interest and cost -- the said William Willis Boddie his heirs Executors administrators and assigns will pay over to the said Jesse Braswell his heirs Executors administrators or assigns in witness whereof the said Jesse Braswell has hereunto set his hand & seal the day and year first above written signed sealed & Delivered in the presence of
