This indenture made this 4th day of July in the year of our lord 1831 - between Lawrence Battle of the County of Nash and State of North Carolina of the one part & Jesse Braswell Sr of the County & State afore said of the other witnesseth that for and in consideration of the sum of one Hundred & Sixty dollars to me in hand paid, the Receipt where of is hereby acknowledged and myself therewith Satisfied hath given granted bargained & sold and by these presents doth give grant bargain & sell & convey to the said Jesse Braswell his heirs and assigns forever a certain tract or parcel of land Situated lying and being in the County of Nash and state of NoCarolina it being the tract of land on which the said Jesse Braswell now lives & Bounded as follows in the East by the lands of Jno Evans and the publick Road on the North and North is the land of Richmond Walker James Braswell & others south by the wobbletons Said supposed to contain three Hundred and eighty nine acres be the Same more or less to have and to hold unto the said Jesse Braswell his heirs & assigns forever to gether with all its profits and appertenences there unto belonging and I the said Larrence Battle for myself my heirs & I do here by warrant and defend -- aforesaid land & premises to the said Jesse Braswell his heirs & I forever against every claim whatsoever in testimony whereof I have here unto made my signature & seal the day and date above in presents of
