* Henry Brasswell, Cumberland Co., 1768

(Page 358) This Indenture Made this 24th day of October in the year of Our Lord 1768 Between Abraham Green Heron of the County of Orange & Province of North Carolina of the one part and Andrew Shepherd of the County of Cumberland & Province aforesaid Gentleman of the other part, Witnesseth that the said Abraham Green Heron for & in consideration of the sum of 16 pounds proclamation money to him in hand paid by the said Andrew Shepherd before the ensealing & delivery of these presents (the Receipt & payment whereof he doth hereby acknowledge) hath granted bargained sold aliened enfeoffed conveyed & confirmed & by these presents doth grant bargain sell alien enfeoff convey and confirm unto the said Andrew Shepherd his heirs & assigns forever all that messuage or tenament situate lying & being on the south side of Cape Fear River Beginning at a Pine on Bush Creek thence running East to a Stake thence South to a Stake, thence West to a Stake, thence North to the first station containing by estimation 200 acres of land be the same more or less, siuate lying & being in Cumberland County entered on Bush Creek settled by Henry Brasswell & James Stringfield in Orange County together with all singular the Improvements Emoluments heraditaments & appurtenances thereunto belonging with the Reversion & Reversions Remander & Remainders appertaining thereto. To have & to hold the said lands tenements heraditaments & premises hereby Granted with their appurtenances to the said Andrew Shepherd his heirs & assigns to the only proper use & behoof of the said Andrew Shepherd his heirs & asigns forever. And the said Abraham Green Heron for himself his heirs executors & administrators doth hereby covenant promise & agree that he the said Abraham Green Heron his heirs executors & administrators shall & will at all times Warrant & forever defend the said premises to the said Andrew Shepherd his heirs & assigns against all lawful claims & demands whatsoever wherby the above mentioned premises might or may be affected or encumbered contrary to the true intent and meuning of these presents. In Witness Whereof the said Abraham Green Heron has hereunto set his hand & seal the day and year (Page 359) Just above written.
