From the will of Nathan Brassel: It is my will & desire that all my Estate both real & personal be & remain in the possession of my Wife Elizabeth Brassel for & during her life or widowhood...

It appears that Nathan Jr applied for letters of administration after his mother, Elizabeth died, in order to settle the estate among the heirs.

Nathan Brassel was this day Justified Administrator with the Will annexed of the Estate of Nathan Brassel Decd & gave Bond and Security in terms of the Law. (Page 106)

Upon the application of Nathan Brassel Administrator with the Will annexed on the Estate of Nathan Brassel Decd for leave to sell the real Estate of said deceased and it appearing to the Court that the said Nathan Brassel Administrator aforesaid has duly and legally advertised his said intended application in one of the public Gazettes of this State and it further appearing to the Court that said Sale is necessary for the purpose of Division amongst the legal representatives of said decease. It is therefore Ordered that the the said Administrator with the Will annexed have leave to Sell the real Estate of said deceased upon his advertizeing the sale thereof in one of the public Gazettes of this State in the terms of the law - (Page 111)

Know all men by these presents that we Nathan Brassel and William Paradise are held and firmly bound unto the Honorable Justices of the Inferior Court of said County, sitting for Ordinary Purposes, and their Successors in office, in the Just and full sum of Fifteen Hundred Dollars for the payment of which sum, to the said Justices as aforesaid and their successors, we bind ourselves, our Heirs, Executors, and administrators, in the whole, and for the whole sum
jointly and severally and firmly by these presents. sealed with our seals. and dated this first day of January eighteen hundred and thirty Eight The condition of the above obligation is such. That if the above bound Nathan Brassel late of this County, Deceased, do make a true and perfect Inventory of all the Estate with the Will annexed both real and Personal, of said deceased, which have or shall come to the hands possession or knowledge of the said Nathan Brassel, or unto the hands or possession of any other person or persons for him and the same, so made, do exhibit into the said Court of Ordinary when he shall be thereunto required and such estate do well and truly administer according to Law and do make a Just and true account of his Actings and doings therein when he shall be thereunto required by the Court of Ordinary for said County and all the rest of the Estate, which shall be found remaining upon the account of said Administration, the same being first allowed by the Court, shall deliver and pay to such person or persons, respectively, as are Entitled to the same by Law, and if it shall hereafter appear that any last will and testament was made by the said deceased and the same be proved before the court, and the Executors obtain a Certificate of the Probate thereof, and the said Nathan Brassel do in such case if required render and Deliver up The said Letters of Administration, then this obligation to be void, else to remain in full force
